Ministry Overview:
High school volunteers are welcome on the EDGE Core team and are a
vital part of the ministry. Teen volunteers must be willing to sign a contract
pledging Christ-like behavior and committing to one year of service to the ministry.
Teens will be placed on a team with adult core team members and will remain with
the same team throughout the entire year. Teens will be given the option to
lead opening and closing prayers, perform skits, and give witness/catechetical
talks to the large group.
Ministry Requirements:
- A love for Christ and middle school youth
- A desire to minister to middle school youth on a bi-monthly basis
- A willingness to serve as a Christian role model
- A weekly commitment to Sunday liturgy
Ministry Expectations:
- Attend EDGE Night on Sundays from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
- Attend EDGE retreats.
- Understand that you are a role model to the middle school youth and act in a Christ-like manner at all times.
- Welcome middle school youth to The EDGE and seek to find Jesus in them.
- Under the direction of adult core team members, be prepared to assist your group through discussion questions, small group activities, skits, and/or craft activities.
- Develop strong caring relationships with the middle school youngsters in your group by facilitating meaningful group discussion and individual interaction.
- Create a Christian environment at The EDGE.

Junior Core Team members must:

| Be Committed . . . |
| + Dedicate him/herself to The Edge and to the
kids for one full year.
+ Attend Edge meetings and special events on a regular basis.

| Be In Relationship . . . |
|
+ Know the names of the middle school students and the other core members.
+ Get to know the students. Get to know their "stories" and share your own.
+ Reach out to the middle school youth in your group, accept and nurture them, challenge
them to do their best.
+ Challenge the students to develop a deeper relationship and commitment to
Jesus and the Catholic Church.
+ Find Christ in each of the middle school students and share that awareness with others.

| Be Willing . . . |
| + To open yourself to new experiences, try something you've never tried
before. Opportunities exist to lead prayer, present to the large group and
perform in outrageous skits!
+ To risk, to be silly and goofy for the Gospel, but at the same time
remain Christ-like! | |
